Pastel on paper

This is a close up painting of our lovely Quarter horse mare, Button. Regretfully she was run through a barbed wire fence the first day of elk season many years ago. Her shoulder was ripped open. We thought we’d need to put her down, but hauled her to the vet and she was sewn up. Because of her injury she favored her front leg and it ended up twisted. She will live out her life here on the ranch even though she isn’t ridable. She is just a sweet horse.
